Teacher Appreciation Day

Well, not really. But pretty close.

Today I had a meeting at another school for the duration of the morning. And I knew, based on a previous illness, that my class of bad-asses would take full advantage of my absence to cause as much chaos as possible. Now, don't think that I'm delusional. I know that my control of some of these kids is always in a precarious state. But for the most part, the kids do what I ask (albeit reluctantly and with much huffing and puffing).

So today, when two assistant principals, one security officer, and a substitute teacher each attempted to block my path to my classroom in order to tell me about the ordeals that they went through during my absence, I felt some sort of perverse sense of pride and acknowledgment. Something I don't feel all that often in the day to day context of job.
